Step 1 - Where the fuck are my discs?
If by some miracle you actually have the discs for Battlefield 1942, skip to Step 2.
If you are like me and lost those things a long time ago, or you never had them, there are multiple torrents with the disc images in them for free on the internet. Just don't get a "cracked" version or shit like that, they tend not to work online. A good one I've used is in the link below:
>>>Battlefield 1942 Install Discs<<<
DO NOT download the patch or keygen files, those will not work online. Also, you don't need the "Road to Rome" or "Secret Weapons" discs. All you will need is Battlefield 1942 CD1.iso and Battlefield 1942 CD2.iso.
Step 2 - Download the Patches
If you don't have them already, you will need 2 patches to play online, download them from the links below:
>>>Battlefield 1942 1.6 Full Patch<<<
>>>Battlefield 1942 1.6-->1.61b Patch<<<
Step 3 - Download the Desert Combat Mods
Okay, so if you used your own discs or the torrent you used didn't come with the Desert Combat mods, then you'll need to download them from the links below:
>>>Desert Combat 0.7 Full Install<<<
>>>Desert Combat Final<<<
Step 4 - Installation
Once you've downloaded everything you need from above, install in the following order:
1. Install Battlefield 1942
-
Mount the discs using your favorite disc mounting software (i.e. Daemon)
-
You will need a genuine cd-key to play online. If you never owned the game or lost your cd-key, just send me a message on xfire (mrseany), I have quite a few online cd-keys that you can use
2. Install Patches
-
Install the Battlefield 1942 1.6 Full Patch (267mb), then the Battlefield 1942 1.6-1.61b patch (6.4mb)
3. Install Desert Combat Mods
-
First Install Desert Combat 0.7 Full (591mb), then install Desert Combat Final (361mb)
4. Update/Install Punkbuster
To play online, you will need an updated version of punkbuster; however, updates for Battlefield 1942 are no longer supported, so we need to use a work-around (See the original instructions here). All you need to do is:
-
Download and Run pbsetup.exe
-
Replace the file pbgame.htm with this one. Run pbsetup.exe again, Battlefield 1942 should now be in the "Add a Game" list.
-
Add it and update it.
Note: If this doesn't work, repeating the process in the EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\pb folder should do the trick. You could also try this method, although I haven't so I can't guarantee it will work.
Step 5 - Get Online
Our clan has a 20-slot server running Desert Combat Final 24/7, and there is still a active community of people playing on other servers. Get on there once in a while and show people our =sBs= tags are still kickin...
